June 2nd- day 2

First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Dad! He is 59 years old!!!
I really don't have much to write about today. It's kind of gloomy here so that has put me in a gloomy mood. The hubby is at work getting ready for another work up. Personally these work ups are harder than the actual deployment. Why don't we get extra money on work ups? Just a thought it'd be nice :) As for what my plans are today, well nothing! Isn't it nice to have the option to do nothing?!?!?!? Well since this is like pulling teeth today I'm going to run... I leave you with this

"I thought growing up was something that happened automatically as you got older. But it turns out it's something you have to choose to do".

Day 1

So I am going to try something a little different then I've been doing. Instead of just random chitter chatter I really want to post things of importance on here. Important to me, you may think it's nonsense but I need a place to call my own and with 2 kids this is the only place I've found :) With a deployment on the horizon I really need an outlet and well to be honest, blogging is cheap!

This is day one and this is what I need to say

Have courage for the great sorrows of life and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. ~Victor Hugo

Hi.....again

Welcome back to my blog....ha ha ha I haven't posted in quite sometime. Mainly b/c life is well life. We've been busy....Guy with the MEU is really throwing a wrench on our plans for everything. Oh well Semper Gumby.... (fyi I hate that saying)
Regan just finished preschool and I cried like a baby, just as my husband predicted. I always said I wanted Colyn to be able to finish preschool before we got orders...then orders never came. So when Regan started school all I wanted was for her to be able to finish there too and well now she's done! Since there will be no more kids I guess we're ready for orders :) buuuut I'd like at least 1 year notice so I can adapt to change and it has to be somewhere that I can drive home to MD because well I don't fly oh and I'd also like to be close to fun things to do the kids, the beach loses it luster after a while....not very Semper Gumby of me huh?!?!?!? (still hate that saying)
Colyn has a few more weeks left of school. He is very ready for Summer Break!!!! I am happy to report his u7 soccer team. the stallions, got 2nd place!!! He was very upset that they lost the championship but compared to last year they did AWESOME!!!!! School is going good for him although we are battling end of year laziness :)
In family news we got a new puppy. Lucy is our french bulldog. We've had her 4 weeks and so far so good. She's a bit of a chewer but from what I hear it's a puppy thing. She's adorable and does lots of cute things. By far the cutest thing that gets everyone laughing is sometimes when you tell her no she barks. Almost as if she's backtalking...... it is hilarious :)
So all in all life is good and I'm happy to report we're all happy and healthy

Backpacks.....really?!?!?

Ok so I have started shopping for Regan's backpack. Next year she will head off to Kindergarten (sigh) and I want her to have a cute backpack, not the run of the mill Target backpack. Not that there is ANYTHING wrong with Target, I love it :) So I found this super cute backpack on-line...it's 34.99 which is more than I thought I wanted to spend but it is so adorable. It's neutral enough that it will match almost anything but personal enough that she won't feel like everyone else. here's a picture of it... of course it will say Reagn all cute and adorable across the back :) I'm not 100% committed to it but as of right now this is the backpack... my litte girl's first backpack for school :)

New Year.....

Ok so, it has most defintely been awhile since I've done anything with this blog. I guess I am going to gear my post today to catching up :)
So the New Year came and I welcomed it with open arms! 2009 was a rough year, not for any one particular reason, just alot of little things that made me count down to 2010. So here we are 2010.... oh 2010 I am pinning all my hopes and dreams on you... so don't screw it up for me and my family!!! ha ha ha ha
So January has proven to be very stressful (thanks alot 2010) Guy has been working alot, but that's nothing new. What is a new development is he has been growning increasingly frustrated with his squadron. Now let me say I love everybody in his squadron, both past and present, we have met some amazing people that I know in a pinch would pull through for us if we ever needed anything. That is something not many military families can say..... we can't invision ourselves with a better group of people BUT .......come on..... 3 years and only one deployment?!?!?!? Not that I want him to go but it's something he needs to do, he needs to feel as though he has accomplished something and right now I'm not getting the feeling that he has a sense of fullfilment with his work. He enjoys what he does so much and he is incredible at what he does (I have it on record from a very reputiable source!!!) but when you're stateside while there are places his peers get sent to he begins to question his.......I'm not sure of the word.... self worth? I guess that makes sense ;) Anyways I guess where I am going with this is 2010 please bring my husband a deployment, a mission he can be proud of a mission that will give him a sense of purpose and fullfilment.
NOW on to the fun stuff... the kids! Colyn is still doing very well in school . He loves reading and continues to take tests in the library in order to be approved to check out higher level books. (who knew you needed permission to check out reading meterial) He is going to be getting glasses soon, we've picked out his frames we just need to get the money together and go buy them. Odd thing is they are only reading glasses... not all the time glasses. Apparently he is far sighted?!?!? who knew... I guess the eye doctor, right?!?!?!? He will soon be jumping into the spring season of soccer and we can't wait! He's going to be on the same team this season which is awesome considering the past who knows how many seasons he's always been on a different team :) Regan is still enjoying Trinity Preschool... I can't ever say enough about that school and her teachers! She has made several new friends this year because there has been alot of in and outs due to military transfers. She is missing one friend that moved away because his Dad is getting out of the USMC. She still thinks he's on Christmas vacation...ahh well, a girl will always wait for a boy LOL!!!!
As for me I'm staying busy... too busy somedays! I am still doing the LINKS stuff, still helping out the squadron as a Family Readiness Advisor, and now I've taken on Membership for the Staff Wives' Club... good grief. See that's why I've been so busy and haven't posted in awhile :)
Well you heard what 2010 has brought us so far and what I'm wishing for. I hope each and everyone of you have a wish for 2010 and here's to the New Year (27 days into it)
Love to you all!

It's been awhile

Well it's really has beenawhile since I've done anything with this blog. Facebook seems to be my favorite form of communication :)

This summer has proven to be the most unpredictable one yet. Guy spent a little over a month on a boat. That "deployment" or as I like to refer to it as "the mini fiasco" caused us to cancel plans we had made for a fun summer. So there were no birthday parties here in NC and we didn't make is to Busch Gardens but the kids did get to go to MD for 2 weeks. That too was unplanned so it gave me 2 weeks with a very empty quite house. He has made it back and has been at work non stop. I have kept busy as well, our squadron has alot of homecomings and with those come set ups and clean ups. I swear I have seen Guy more at work than I have at home lately!

Now we're gearing up for school.... the summer days are passing slowly which is diving me crazy but these are days I'm going to want back when the kids are grown up :)

*nothing to do with Family updates*

ok so I set this blog up to be a family update kind of thing, well today it is basically me clearing my head in a written manner... I am much better at the written word than the spoken word :) SOOOOO if you were expecting a fun family update you're only going to get me rambling!!!! ENJOY!!!!

For the 8 long years that I have been married into the military,I have come to the realization that it is basically a grown-up version of high school... it's all based on rank and status. It's a hard situation for making friends... even though it shouldn't be b/c the ones who are wearing the rank our the hubbies NOT the wives (but that doesn't stop us) So having been around this situation for 8 years you'd think I'd be a pro at making friends... HA HA HA sadly NO! I join groups, volunteer and I still get labeled by my husband's rank .... I might as well wear a red sticker on my forehead and have a shirt that says yeah he's enlisted on the front and what are you gonna do about it on the back! that's a good idea, I may start production, lemme know if you want one!!!!! ha ha ha ha I'm suuuure they'll be a hot seller! Come to think of it I have seen a wife jogging around my neighborhood that has a shirt that says b/c the GYSGT said so...... Guy needs to get promoted so I can ask her where she got it from :) Anyways off course a little..... I'm ok with him being enlisted... he has busted his butt, he constantly seeks to improve his skills and does his job well, he has gotten a degree and managed to be on the Dean's List all while working more than the average joe's 40 hour work week...... Ok we're getting off topic here I need to re-group! What I'm getting at is I'm proud as shit of my hubby BUT that doesn't mean I label myself by what HE has accomplished, I have done nothing to earn what he has. I maintain our household, I support him and his unit but that doesn't make me top dog..... it doesn't make ANYONE top dog. We are all spouses, all we did was marry a man we love and doing that doesn't give us power or a title. Sure there is a chain of command.. FOR THE GUYS... it doesn't mean I can't be friends with a PFC's wife or a MGYSGT's wife, or a CAPT's wife, I can be friend's with the CO's wife. We are all WIVES we all miss our hubby's when they deploy,we all have the same fears, we are all proud of them, we all cry the same tears, but mostly importantly we are all wives. We are a special group, no one else can ever understand what military wives go through better than another military wife. We should be there for each other as friends... I bet if we all stepped back outside of the label we have given ourselves we could see that an avi's wife, a flightline's wife, a maintence control's wife, an airframer's wife and a pilot's wife all have one thing in common our husband's serve our country we all miss them the same as the next wife. We all cry when our hubby's leave we all notice the empty chair at the dinner table we all experience these things at one point or another. The guy's all work together toward a common goal why can't we as wives let go of our self given titles and work on being friends?!?!?
I am no expert on this topic, I am self proclaimed hermit :) but I'd like to be an expert I'd like to say I have made friends regardless of rank and/or status but I find it hard for other wives to see my point of view and HONESTLY believe in it! You all can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk? Who knows, maybe this blog will start a revolution.... a revolution of wives being wives and not being worried about OMG is she gonna see me with that (insert husbands rank) wife. While I'm almost 100% sure I'm not going to see that revolution anytime soon it would be nice and even if hundreds upon thousands of wives don't jump on my bandwagon, I am one person and one person CAN change and by me changing maybe others will follow suit :)

Now please don't take offense to this post, I'm sure I'm going to get angry phonecalls and/or nasty looks and if you go back and re read I did not exclude myself from any descriptions I said US...... and if you still take offense, then maybe it's time to re evaluate yourself and see how you could change.......
